all work and no play …

mr. ika

There really isn’t enough time in a day. It’s funny too that I don’t recall feeling that way until I hit my late 20’s. Now when I sit down and start one of my projects by the time I look up from it, the day is already gone. I really find it difficult to blog for the same reason. Not enough time.

Well the weekend for me was spent making a couple of Mr. Ikas and taking better pictures of the things I’ve made. I’ve also started sketching out some designs for prints for a baby, like onesies and room decor. I updated the etsy shop. Mr. Ika is on there now. With a full-time job though I find it really difficult to do all the things I have brewing in my head. I don’t know how people do it successfully.

So without further ado, Mr Ika is in our etsy shop now.

grand opening …

etsy page

Our etsy shop is finally open! Hooray! Please come on by and visit us. In the next few weeks we’ll be updating the photos (cause they could be better) and adding new products. We’ll also feature some items that we will be selling at the San Diego Comic Con. More on that later :)

Thank you to everyone who has been so supportive and encouraging as we embark on this new endeavor. Love you all!

octopie is a cutie pie…

dsc08047.jpg

I am so happy with how this turned out. It’s the first one so it took me a couple of hours to make and figure out his construction. I love him!

He is made from a soft polar fleece with hand felted details (like his eyes and spots). He is a wonderful orange color though very hard to photograph. He is a creature pillow so you can rest your head on his.

Comments and suggestions are welcome. please let me know what you think of him because I am thinking of selling Octopie on Etsy.

cephalopods are your friends…

dsc07795.jpg

I have finally made my squidmen (no official name as of yet). I was waiting for my order of plastic pellets from Joann Fabrics and it finally arrived this week. I wanted the hands and feet to be weighted so they would swing a bit when you held them. I used some vintage fabric we found a couple years ago. Both have hand felted details, like the blue centers on the flowers by the top of their heads and their eyes. The red faced one is all hand felted and I think I like that one the best out of the two.

the bushman came in a dream…

bushman02.jpg

After 3 days of hard work, the Bushman cometh. It came in a dream and it had to be made. It is plush but posable. His head and hands are sculpted and he was completely handmade and is one of a kind. The Bushman is a takeoff on our dear ol’ pres. We hope to make many more of him and we’re looking forward to seeing how he’ll grow and evolve.

makoto meiru is born…

makoto.jpgmakoto1

The first Mokoto Meiru (sincerity mail) animal was born today. Still needs some tweeks but she turned out quite cute and cuddly. She is made of many different fabrics including fleece, cotton and cashmere. She is handmade with hand felted details. The heart is for you to give to someone. More versions to come but am so pleased with this first one.
